United Nations Secretary-General Makes First Trip to Millennium Village

In Mwandama, where crop yields have more than quadrupled, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon sees the large quantities of surplus grain in the village's new grain bank. At the local primary school, UN Secretary-General underscores the UN's commitment to help Malawi achieve the Millennium Development Goals. In Mwandama district today, 11,847 students in 12 primary schools now receive daily school meals. The meals intervention is done in close partnership with the UN's World Food Programme. On May 30, Secretary-General Ban visits the kitchen of the Dindi Primary School to see the program in action.
